Here's a quick update from Chorlton and District Co-ops - organised by and for local co-ops and co-op members.
Open until 6pm tomorrow (Sunday 31st).
Last chance to take part in the survey on how to use the Co-op Funeralcare site (former Gaumont cinema of Bee Gees fame).
The people at Chorlton Community Land Trust are keeping the survey open for people on this mailing list, so please use this opportunity to have your say!
A brilliant first month for Chorlton Bike Deliveries - the voluntary group of local cyclists helping out during the Covid-19 crisis:
All for no cost to local people or business.
Here you can see them in their smart hi-vis jackets. We arranged for the Co-op to cover the cost of these. Thanks Co-op.
You can add your name to a call for more space in Chorlton for pedestrians, wheelchair and buggy users and cyclists.
Chorlton Coronavirus Community Response is a Facebook page where people are organising help for the most vulnerable people in the community. If you're a Facebook user you can see it here
Key information from the group:
(you can see these even if you're not a Facebook user)
Unicorn is now opening on Mondays for timed entry. The initial trial went well but rather than lengthen queues on other days, the workers at Unicorn have decided to open on Mondays for timed entry only.
Details of Unicorn opening hours here.
AGM and elections - vote before Monday!
It's your last chance to vote in this year's AGM - there are motions including one on the Co-op Party funding, elections to the board and to the National Members Council.
If you're a member and you've been spending in store you should have received voting instructions by email or in the post.
There's an important motion on continued funding for the Co-op Party - backed by the board. You can read it in the AGM booklet here.
There are 25 candidates for just three vacxancies in the north-west section of the National Members Council - you can read their statements here.
There are 3 candidates for one vacancy on the board. You can read their statements here:
Coop on-line ordering and deliveries
You can now order on-line from the Co-op - for home delivery (usually same day!) or pickup from Whalley Range.
It's a great way of getting food at lower risk to you and store colleagues.
We held our second Chorlton and District Coops meeting by Zoom video on 9 May and it went really well.
Our next meeting will be on Saturday 10.30 - 11.30 am 11 July by Zoom.
How to join by Zoom
Follow the link below to register and for details.
We're Chorlton and District Co-ops - local Co-op members making our voice heard in the Co-op and working with other co-ops in the community. We hold short informal meetings every two months and we organise local activity around issues like Fairtrade. We recently changed our name (again!) from the Chorlton Co-op Cluster.
Anyone who is interested in co-ops and co-operation is welcome to join us.
